Mikaël Silvestre

Mikaël Samy Silvestre (born 9 August 1977) is a former French footballer who last played as a defender for Chennaiyin in the Indian Super League.
He began his career at Rennes and went on to Inter Milan before joining Manchester United in 1999. At Old Trafford, he won honours including five Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League, making 361 appearances in all competitions, then joined Arsenal in 2008. Two seasons later he joined Werder Bremen, and spent time at the Portland Timbers in Major League Soccer before signing for Chennaiyin in 2014.
Silvestre has also played for the French national team, earning 40 caps between 2001 and 2006. He represented France at two World Cups, UEFA Euro 2004, and two conquests of the FIFA Confederations Cup.
